![]() ![]() That in mind - and with the weekend just a beat away - we’d like to direct your attention to barman Louis Rodopoulos of the King Cole Bar, who can tell you a thousand stories, but will say there’s only one way to make the drink. Inspired by Milwaukee pub Sobelman’s “Fully-Loaded, Cheeseburger-Bloody Mary,” we’re worried the admittedly attractive-looking but ultimately overwrought and top-heavy cocktail may spread across national brunch menus like the virus in Contagion went through A-list actors. Central Track reports on last Sunday’s version, which was served with a “bacon and cheddar slider, shrimp, artisan cheese, beef jerky, asparagus, Brussels sprouts, green beans, okra, a pickle, onions, tomatoes, olives and even a whole crawfish.” Yum. Check below for additional photos of the brunch menu and see what exactly goes on those drinks I told you guys about. Why make a cocktail with a few ingredients when you can overdo it with a few dozen? That’s what the guys at Anvil Pub in Dallas are going for with their new jumbo Bloody Mary, a drink so hulky and populated with gonzo garnishes that it should probably come with an allergen information card. I’ve heard great things.Īll in all I will be back to try other drinks as well as the other menu food items.Īnvil Pub in Deep Ellum gets a 4 out of 5. I heard their Mac and Cheese is really good, so if you don’t want brunch get your fix from the other menu items. Other than that, Anvil Pub got something good going for them. They were more like potato matchsticks and tasted like old grease. The only ding I would give them was their hash browns. Although slightly salty, the smoked salmon they used was delicious and the perfectly poached eggs were so impressive that I will definitely be coming back to try some other items on the menu. I was pleasantly surprised when I tasted the food and found out they had some real talent in the kitchen. Slightly ambitious to order at a pub but I figured hey why not. It felt weird to only try the drink, so I ordered a Salmon Eggs Benedict. I mean, what sausage, egg and cheese sandwich isn’t, right? All the while my waitress is checking in every five minutes to make sure I’m okay, while “No Diggity” is playing in the background - my type of place. Next, I tried the sandwich and it was delicious as you would expect. My guess is that they use high-grade fresh chilled champagne and probably added some type of liqueur. I tasted it, and it was immaculate a fresh mimosa with a little extra. So, the drink finally arrived and I was like a kid in a candy store. The food is prepared fresh and you’re given a half-pint of PBR (Pabst Blue Ribbon for the uninitiated beer drinkers) while you wait. Before you get grossed out, the sandwich and tater tots do not actually touch the drink. The mimosa came with a sausage, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, tater tots and mixed fruit, all put on skewers and inserted in the drink. The twist on these drinks is that they come with side items. Of course, you guys know I ordered the mimosa. Anvil Pub has a 4 drink selection that they like to call “The F**K Brunch Drinks”: a Mimosa, Bloody Mary, Screwdriver, And Sangria. The ironically creative dish that brought me to this place combined the two things that made me start this blog - food and mimosas. The music was jamming the entire time, I loved it It definitely seemed like a very welcoming place to hangout. ![]() Remember how I described the bar earlier? It was 90’s hip-hop! I mean, we’re talking everything from “This Is How We Do It” to Biggie’s “Big Poppa”. As I sat down at my table and took a look at the menu, I noticed the music playing. With self-seating, the on-staff then comes to take care of you. When I walked in there were soccer flags everywhere (so, if you’re a big soccer fan I would suggest checking this place out I’m sure it’s a good time). I’ll admit, initially I was caught off-guard by the ambience of such a unique place, in a good way. Before I check out a brunch spot, I usually do some research on the menu unless I am directly told about a place. Paddy’s celebration bar (but hey, guess I ignored the fact that pub was in the name). Judging from the area and the outside of the bar you wouldn’t expect a St. ![]() ![]() While in town for a wedding I decided to check out Anvil Pub. (Not saying Houston doesn’t, but the creativity in Dallas is something to appreciate.) Use both hands to grab an Anvil Pub Bloody Mary, replete with skewered bacon cheeseburger slider and fixins, while a long-time musician pulls up alongside. They know what they’re doing up in North Texas. I’m starting to fall in love more and more with Dallas brunch spots. ![]()
